Baseball, Big Easy, Blogging

So Travis's baseball season has begun.  He has 2 games and 1 practice each week.  It is going to be a very busy next few months.  He is on a GREAT team, the Mets, playing with 8-10 year old boys.  This will definitely be a challenge for him, but I have confidence that he will be just great at it.  Here is his picture from last winter on the Cubs.

Exactly 1 week from now, I'll be in New Orleans - YAY!!!  My good friend Karleen and I are headed to the Big Easy to visit my cousins and, oh ya, to compete in the New Orleans Rock and Roll Half Marathon!  Our goal for the race...  to finish, and have fun along the way!  Here is my finishing photo from the October race.

Guest Blogger?  I am going to start including guest blogger pieces into my weekly blog.  If you have a specialty, a passion, or just something fun to say, drop me a line - I may feature you in an upcoming blog.

Back to work, bye for now!

Running, San Francisco, Cruising

At the end of this month, I am traveling with a friend to New Orleans to participate in the Rock and Roll Half Marathon.  This will be my second half marathon in 5 months.  Some of my friends say I'm crazy, but running/walking is motivational for me.  Plus, I get a great trip to New Orleans with a good friend.  We will be staying with my cousins who have a house there, and they have graciously offered to show us the town!  Should be fun, and I'll post pics on my Facebook account when I'm there.

Speaking of travel, in July, I will be headed to San Francisco to attend the Soroptimist International Biennial Convention with some of the hardest working and most dedicated women in the world.  Soroptimist is an International Service Organization dedicated to advancing the status of women and girls both locally and globally.  I have the great honor of serving on the board of Soroptimist International Oceanside-Carlsbad and several of my fellow club members will be headed to San Francisco as well.  Should be a GREAT TIME!

In October, I am cruising - YAY!  Have you ever considered a girls weekend, or getaway cruise?  Well, some friends and I are doing just that!  Come join us on the Carnival Spirit sailing from San Diego October 8-12.   Click HERE for all the details including On Board Credit, Cocktail Party, Wine and MORE!  I can even offer a LAYAWAY program, deposit now and pay monthly, but hurry, rates expire soon!  OK, as an added incentive, anybody booking this cruise, and referencing this blog post will get a bonus $25 on board credit!  Hope you can join me!

WOW! Pictures, Ships, PTA

WOW!  Mom and I met with Nikkie from Blueflair Photography today to preview the pics that were taken a couple weeks ago.  I think they turned out GREAT, and are a much needed to my on-line presence.  This is just one of the shots, but I think it is my favorite!   Thanks again Nikkie and Steph for the AWESOME job!!!  I can't wait for the family portrait session in April!

Saturday, Scott and I had the opportunity to visit Oceania Cruises' Regatta in San Pedro.  She is a BEAUTIFUL vessel, accompanied in dark woods, elegant decor and Versaci China.  Another WOW!  Click here for a little video I put together.  When you are ready to experience Casual Luxury, let me know!

I am the Secretary on the board of the PTA at Travis's school.  Casita's PTA Board consists of a group of dedicated and caring parents and staff.  Our big push this year is to raise funds for new playground equipment.  We have raised $20k so far, and we have another $80k to reach out 3 year goal!  The Family Valentine's Day Dance is on Feb. 11th, and should be a good time - my little man (Trav) has promised his mommy a dance - I can't wait :)  Anybody out there interested in donating money or in-kind gifts for our fundraisers, let me know (wink, wink)

Big Birthday Party this weekend for Travis - excited to see family and friends.  Until next week...

Pamper weekend, Busy Week

Saturday, I went to a birthday party for one of Travis's friends, then as the boys (Steve and Trav) headed to Monster Jam, the girls (me and my gal pals) all went for pedicures - ooh la la. Sunday, mom and I had a photo shoot with my friends Nikkie and Stephanie of BlueFlair Photography.  What a BLAST.  It started with a professional makeup session with Christie Stevenson, then Nikkie and Steph shot us each in 3 or 4 different outfits.  Some head shots, some full body, and some with me and mom together.  The purpose of the photo shoot was to get a few new shots that we can use on our social media sites, websites, business cards, etc.  Boy did they do a GREAT job - if I do say so myself!  We should have the proofs next week sometime.  If you are looking for an updated look or image, DEFINITELY give these ladies a call!

Monday started off with a bang - can you believe round trip airfare LAX to Barcelona for only $600 including taxes??? YEP, want to go to Europe, off season/October is the time my friends.  I've been busy this week helping my friends book some FABULOUS vacations for 2010 and early 2011.   This reminds me...  I NEED TO CRUISE!!!  It's been about 7 months since my last cruise, and I am dying to get on another boat!

My Social Schedule this week is kinda light - Bunco Wed., PTA Committee meeting Thu., Soroptimist on Friday, Heading to LA to visit the Oceania Regatta on Sat and day of rest on Sunday.

Catch ya next week!  Hopefully with some great pics to post!

It's a Blustery Day, Pooh...

Wow, wild weather in San Diego this week. We are supposed to get 10 inches of rain this week alone, and San Diego's average ANNUAL rainfall is just over 10 inches. Lots of wind, rain and even a TORNADO watch - CRAZY...

That said, I've been keeping busy speaking with my clients and planning some wonderful vacations. The first few months of a new year are commonly referred to as "Wave Season" in the travel industry, and is our busiest time of the year. Long hours, lots of activity, and lots to do - but, I LOVE my job and my clients, so it is all worth while. On January 3rd, I had the pleasure of visiting the Azamara Journey while she was in the port of San Diego. Azamara Club Cruises is going through a change to become more inclusive, and to truly become a unique product in the luxury cruise market. Some of these inclusions are: Gratuities, wine with lunch and dinner, free shuttle into town, and more. I think you will be hearing more about Azamara Club Cruises in the future.

Saturday Night, my boys (hubby and son) are headed to Qualcomm Stadium for the big Monster Truck show with some other dads/grandpas/sons - sounds like a good time for a nice relaxing book and bubble bath - ha ha - can anyone say SPA RETREAT?

Bye for now!

Welcome to Summer...

June is here, the kids are almost out of school, what are you doing for summer vacation this year??? Last month I took a quick 3 night cruise on the Carnival Elation with my son and my mom. WOW, what a fun getaway. If I haven't said it enough before, "This is the year to travel"! I have never seen prices so low and value as great as today. Summer prices are lower than typical "low season" rates. 3 night cruises sailing from San Diego as low as $179.00 - MID SUMMER! Typical summer prices are $400 per person. If you are thinking of something fun to do this summer, with or without the family, give me a call or drop me an email, I'd love to talk to you. 760-410-7447 Adele@LegendaryWorld.com Or check out my website Adele.LegendaryWorld.com

WOW, what a GREAT time to be in the travel industry!  I am making happy clients EVERY DAY!  Travel values are the lowest I have ever seen in my 15+ years in the travel industry.  Cruises from less than $200 per person, Hawaii with hotel and air from the W. Coast from under $500 per person, the Island of the Bahamas is even giving back a $200.00 rebate check for visitors to their island who book by May 10th.  It is amazing what value can be found these days.

I have just confirmed my Alaska cruise for July 09.  I am honored to be invited to sail with my in-laws David and Diane Hinkle, and their kids Troy and Amy (and grand kids Micah and Gina) for 7 nights on the Carnival Spirit.  We will be sailing from Whittier, Alaska to Vancouver BC Canada.  Believe it or not, in my 30+ cruises, I have never sailed to Alaska, so needless to say I am VERY Excited!  If you want to join us, there are a few cabins left, and inside cabins are starting at $499.00 and balconies from $849.00 plus tax!  WOW, $500 for a 7 night Alaska Cruise during PEAK SEASON!!!  Really unheard of.

Anyway, there are some great travel bargains to be had.  so, Grab you passport and give me a call.  Oh, and if you don't have a passport yet, GET ONE!  New rules go into effect 6/1/09, visit travel.state.gov.passport for details.

Personally, I have taken a great liking to Facebook.  Click here if you want to view my profile, and I would love to add you as a friend!  I even added a Facebook Group for Travis's school Casita Center!

Want to win a $1000 Nordstrom Gift Certificate?  My Soroptimist Club (We raise money for local women and girls) is selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a $1000 Nordy's Gift Card.  1 for $5, 3 for $10 or 8 for $20.  Email me if you want to get in on the action!!!

Happy Spring, have you gone anywhere lately?

In February I had the pleasure of sailing on Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas - The biggest ship to hit the W. Coast. The Mariner is Beautiful and grand. We had a room overlooking the Royal Promenade and it was a blast for people watching. The food was great, the staff friendly and the ship beautiful. I even wan $250 in the Casino - what more can you ask for in a vacation.

In March I was able to preview Carnival's newest ship, the Carnival Splendor. As a nice touch, we were upgraded to a suite (Thanks Drew!). We sailed from San Francisco and returned 2 days later. When we got off the ship, Mom and I goofed off for the day. What a beautiful city. The highlite was our GoCar adventure. The car included a self-drive, GPS guided/talking computer. We toured the entire city in 2.5 hours, and even went down Lombard! If you are going to San Francisco and looking for a fun couple of hours, you have GOT to do this tour.

Up next??  I am contemplating an Alaska Cruise, we'll see.

Other than that, I am active on Travis's PTA, I am VP of my local Soroptimist Club, busy planting my summer crops in my garden.  Life is Good, and I am BLESSED to be living it!

Fall is here, the weather is cooling

The last 2 months have been a bit of a whirlwind for me. In September, I escorted almost 500 passengers on Holland America's Oosterdam as part of the Dr. Laura Schlessinger cruise. We had dance parties featuring Dean Torrence of Jan and Dean, fitness and makeover demonstrations, a book signing and jewelry sale among just a few of the many activities. Of course, what isa cruise to Victoria BC without a stop at the world famous Butchart Gardens.

Then in October, I sailed with my friends and clients for our annual Oldies Music Cruise with Cruisin' With the Oldies. We visited Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas. Everyone enjoyed the concerts and parties with performances by Ron Dante of the Archies and Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods.

Well, I don't have my next cruise planned yet - ahhh, but I'm sure one will come along that I just can't pass up.

WOW - another year has gone by

Ok, so it was this time last year when I was posting that my son was off to Kindergarten - and now he is ready to transition into the public school system in 1st grade  -AHHH - seems like tomorrow I'll be talking about him going to college.

OK, so many ask - where is my next adventure...  Well, my next cruise is with almost 500 people on a theme cruise (what else is there) with Dr. Laura Schlessinger and her fans. http://legendaryworld.com/DrLaura/  We will be sailing on Holland America's beautiful ms Oosterdam from Vancouver BC to San Diego.  Should be a GREAT cruise!

After that, I am headed out the last week in October for our Oldies Cruise featuring Ron Dante of the Archies, Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods and lots of our fun and friendly clients.  I'll be sailing with my best-cruising buddy Verdie and my son Travis, as well as my inlaws and lots of friends.  Halloween is always a blast on the ship, and I expect this sailing to be another great time.

Not sure of my next vacation after that, who know's, I'm sure I'll be off to somewhere exotic and exciting.

Music and Margaritas, Anybody?

I just returned from a FANTASTIC 4 night cruise to Cabo on the Carnival Elation. I was on board with a group we promoted called Music and Margaritas, Don't Stop the Carnival Cruise - a mouthful, Yes, so M&M for short. We had a bunch of Parrothead (Jimmy Buffett) fans on board as well as a group of KPRI 102.1 Listeners from San Diego. In addition, we hired an awesome band called Stars on the Water to perform 2 private concerts and 2 public shows while on the cruise. Our MC Extraordinaire was KPRI's own Madison, and he was great.

We ate, laughed, drank, danced, sang, drank some more, partied and had a blast.

OK, I cruise a lot, I know, but this ranks among the top cruises in my books. The 4 night quick getaway from San Diego is perfect. Not too long, not too short and a fun day in Cabo to boot. If you don't have a lot of time, this is the perfect quick getaway. And the prices are unbelievable. You can buy this cruise for what a decent hotel alone would cost here in San Diego - and remember, meals and entertainment are included!

My next adventure - Cruisin' With the Oldies Cruise featuring Terry Sylvester from The Hollies, October 27th, 2007 on Carnival Glory. Our annual Oldies Halloween Cruise - will post on this shortly.

Until then - Wishing you warm waters, and may our waves cross paths again soon!

September - time to catch up

Travis started school a few weeks ago - He is a big bad kindergartener now! Quite a change for him from preschool, but he is really loving it. He was already chosen as student of the week for his good behavior and we are very proud of him.

I am traveling again in a few weeks - this time on a 4 day cruise on the Carnival Elation to Cabo. We have a music group cruise, with tunes by a local band Stars on the Water. Their style is Jimmy Buffet/Island, Hawaiian shirt, rum swizzle in the hand. Should be a blast!

The weather has started to cool here at the house, and I just love being able to keep the windows open at night - feel the cool brisk air - autumn is just around the corner. Until next time...

Next Week - VACATION!

Next week, Steve, Travis and I will spend time in the sun and sand playing on the beautiful shores of the Colorado River. The time to refresh, renew and remember what life is all about and to hold those so very near and dear to your heart closely.

2007 is half way over - ahhhh

Here we are, June 2007. This year I've been fortunate to have gone on 2 cruises with 2 more scheduled for the remainder of 2007. In early Feb. I escorted about 200 Country music fans on an 8 night cruise to Mexico. We had private concerts and events on board by some of Country's top artists Jo Dee Messina, Phil Vassar and Jack Ingram. Wow, what a cruise!

Then, at the end of Feb. a small group of my closest friends and family sailed for 3 days to Ensenada to celebrate my birthday. I've got a GREAT group and they decided to join me and help celebrate.

In August, I'll be escorting about 250 people on a 4 day cruise in the Caribbean, and in October I'll be escorting a group of about 400 "Rock and Roll Oldies" music lovers in the Caribbean for 7 nights of fun, private concerts, dance parties and more.

I know, my life sounds like 1 big vacation. Sometimes it is. My philosphy in life - Work hard, Play hard and most importantly LOVE Hard - Love yourself, your family and your best friends!

If you are reading this, I hope you work, play and love hard the remainder of 2007 -

Back from Chicago

Just back from Chicago. Went for my cousin Ann's wedding, had a great time. The city is clean, beautiful old buildings, lots of planters on the sidewalks, spring was definately in the air. Had dinner Sunday night at Giordano's, good Pizza and beer. What is a stop in Chicago without pizza? Took the Orange line train from Midway airport, very easy, convenient and cheap! $2 each way between airport and downtown, and about a 30 min ride. Busses were clean and full of all kinds of people, young, old, businesspeople, etc.
